Learn about the history of Etowah and its relationship to the L&N Railroad. This presentation includes information about Vonore, which sits on the same RR line as Etowah. Vonore was known as McGhee Station at that time. The work to improve the line through Vonore took place in 1906, at the same time the L&N built a new line and established Etowah. The peonage camp at Vonore was investigated by the US Dept of Justice for abuse of the workers.
