Just For Kids!

The Children's Corner

The Kegley Children's Corner is a cozy spot that is brightened by a colorful mural painted by the Art Guild of Tellico Village. Children are invited to browse for books or cuddle up to the HABIT dogs Charley and Wilbur to read aloud. Parents and grandparents alike are invited to relax here and read to the children or enjoy a cup of coffee while the young ones find the perfect book.

On the other side of the library is the Phyllis Baldani Collection for Young Adults. This growing collection is perfect for the advanced readers.

Ruff Reading at the Library

We offer reading with one of our Ruff dogs to elementary aged children. The child reads to the dog who is trained to listen. Saturday morning is the best day to do this, but we need some notice to make the arrangements. Call Mary Ann at 865-207-2626 or e-mail her at blank.maryann@gmail.com to schedule an appointment.

DVDs

Age appropriate educational DVDs are available in the Children's area.  These are available for a one week check out at no charge. Other entertainment DVDs for children are also located in the same area. There is a charge of $2 a check out for the entertainment DVDs. Other DVDs with a G or PG rating are located with the main DVD collection.

The Public Library at Tellico Village now offers a fun, new way to promote literacy for your children or entertain visiting grandchildren. Literacy backpacks are a great way for parents and grandparents to take story time and learning home from the library in a convenient, age-appropriate package.

Each themed backpack contains books, DVDs, interactive toys, early literacy tips, and activity suggestions. You can choose among the following topics: Animal Babies, Backyard Discovery, Dairy Farm, Dinosaurs, Dr. Seuss, Fun and Games, Hiking, Magic, Music, Puppet Productions, Space, and Discovering Tennessee. Each backpack may be checked out for one week.

Home School Resource

We have established the library as a resource center for the home schooled children in Loudon County.  The computers are available to both parents and children for their education projects and research. If you have questions about this program, please contact us.
